Dogs give us their hearts and minds, and work tirelessly to please us, and are overjoyed when they do. They surely deserve to receive more credit for their part in this tragedy, and why isn't there a book, or a documentry that records it? I do hope Charlotte Dumas who created these lovely photos into a book that would be appreciated by all, including those rescued at WTC. With all the memorial programmes going on this week about 9/11, it is this story that tugged my heart the most.

He was a farm dog working with my blue heeler cattle dog (who sadly died), in protecting the property. Now he is my companion, a wonderful friend, very patient with my grandson and a good, though not aggressive, guard. He was not difficult to train though can be stubborn and independent, as can many other dogs. My Maremma is 6 years old now. i brought him home from Australia with me 18 months ago. Merlin was absolutely wonderful and seeing Jet was like seeing the Sorcerer once more. Congratulations Jim! Enjoy your superlative, matchless companion. She continues to do well, grows in confidence daily and loves life! She has a great character, very endearing, loyal, cheeky, intelligent and determined. She so deserves a second chance.
