As a long time owner of German Shepards and other breeds, I know the dedication and bond these partners give without any restrictions. What they did after this tragedy will not be forgotten. They stand hand-in-paw with all the hero's of 9/11.
God Bless them and God Bless America.

With all the memorial programmes going on this week about 9/11, it is this story that tugged my heart the most.
Dogs give us their hearts and minds, and work tirelessly to please us, and are overjoyed when they do.
They surely deserve to receive more credit for their part in this tragedy, and why isn't there a book, or a documentry that records it?
I do hope Charlotte Dumas who created these lovely photos into a book that would be appreciated by all, including those rescued at WTC.

My Maremma is 6 years old now. i brought him home from Australia with me 18 months ago. He was a farm dog working with my blue heeler cattle dog (who sadly died), in protecting the property. Now he is my companion, a wonderful friend, very patient with my grandson and a good, though not aggressive, guard. He was not difficult to train though can be stubborn and independent, as can many other dogs.

I published "Illusion" the story of my Flatcoat about 4 years ago. She was the sister of Fossdyke Illustrious, grandfather of the Kentuckian. I have also been lucky enough to 'babysit' Merlin aka Sorcerer's Apprentice, Jet's dad. Merlin was absolutely wonderful and seeing Jet was like seeing the Sorcerer once more.
Congratulations Jim! Enjoy your superlative, matchless companion.

Hi Denise

Thanks for the update on Tess, we are so pleased to hear she has found a good home. You mention that she is intelligent and determined - she certainly showed this during her lengthy winter exile.

Pats & hugs to Tess from us!

Tess was adopted by myself in early June. She continues to do well, grows in confidence daily and loves life! She has a great character, very endearing, loyal, cheeky, intelligent and determined. She so deserves a second chance. She still visits BCR regularly as I volunteer there. Nicki and Mike did such a good job putting her on the right track for a new life.
